This used to be a very active forum. several sucessful projects like guile 3d, cortana and kari got good feedback here. Now it appears that only 4-5 members are stll posting. I can understand the reluctance to post, since it takes a week to get a post moderated. when I first joined I could get feedback within minutes. I still see lots of reads, but no posts.

do I need to move to a more responsive forum?

Hi Toborman,

A few years ago I had to activate the Moderation feature, because the forum was filled with spam posts.

You now see only useful posts thanks to this feature and to my daily work of post checking and spam removing.

I usually read the forum every day and so I approve your posts within 24 hours or less, except when I am on holidays, as during the past two weeks.

I know that the forum is now much quieter then it was in the past. I had some thoughts about renewing it, but I haven't found the time to perform any of these actions.

However, many people still consider this Forum a great Repository of information about these subjects and read even old posts. I hope that some of them will start again some interesting discussion here.

Regards

Vittorio

Yeah, spam is a sad cancer on public forums.

The Mind Uploading Research Group died when it descended into spam.

Yep, I agree. We used to have some pretty lively interactions with a host of players! Now, sadly, it seems that like a lot of living things, there is a finite lifespan.

There are others out there but this was one of the more intellectually stimulating ones that I found and enjoyed!

We'll see what happens....

Ending? Naa. I think it's just beginning. This forum has always been ahead of its time. The media is just starting to scratch the surface of these avatars on our computers.

Example... I just got contacted by a documentary film maker interested in making a documentary on Kari. As we get more exposure I bet we'll see more people coming into forums like this. Check this out: http://karigirl.com/newsblink1.shtml

Anyways... I hope Virtual Humans Forum never goes down! It's true glory is ahead!

OK T-man...what is it you wish to have moderated, specifically?

Just because I don't always have a chance to answer doesn't mean I'm not checking in....(among others).

Hi Toborman,

as you can see if you look at the dates of these posts, I usually go on holidays from the end of august to mid september.

All we have to do is start posting again. I like this forum, it works nicely.

Simply a preliminary suggestion, as in, something to consider...
Especially, since this involves a fair amount of planning.

Maybe the classic, inactive posts can be archived with separate access.

And, a new database can be created with a set of new forum categories?

This is not to be interpreted as a criticism! Having a classic forum like this online is fantastic.

Great idea! All we have to do is drum up some new members or try to locate some of the older, "enlightened ones". ;)

Hi 8pla.net

This forum was born in December 2005. After over 10 years, I agree we need to clean it up. I've therefore archived all the topics which are older than 01/01/2015.

They can be read by pressing the "A" icon (View Archived Posts") at the right of each topic.

Thank you for your help!

Very nice this was put in, been thinking the place was dead till I saw some of VR's post an a Penguin. I'm still using Hal, reading some posts to get ideas on how to improve hal's brain. This place has always been ahead if the times but everything in chat bot AI has slowed down so much.
