One of the problems we noticed with Jeeney AI, was that people would ask her about modern events, news, etc...
We still havent solved that problem, you can either;
1. Continually scan news content through RSS, which can lead to some quite...horrible discussions 2. Have people talking about a topic relay back to a server for it to be shared with all programs, but again, horrible if someone in the system uses txt speak. 3. Create a full on semantic page scraper to dump that info to all the clients. 4. Limit the users perception of the bot's intelligence so conversation never really goes that way.
Oh, and Grant: That is a VERY fascinating picture, and it's almost..ALMOST so close to avoiding the uncanny valley... |
The hand that rocks the AI cradle, may well rule the world. |

Heheh fair enough I guess the research towards believable realism will just have to continue! |

We are working in our SDK and AIML Editor right now. Still some work to do with internalization tasks.
I will make the AIML Editor and Interpreter available here in a couple of days to start the Beta of Denise with this module.
Thank you all for your patience.

Wow that's some eye candy. Aside from that this project has had me excited since I found it a year ago. It will open up a whole new means of interface with the computer and make it easier to use thought my general day to day home use. Guile as I have stated in emails in the past I can't wait to help beta test this. You will be changing how humans interact with computers if its even close to what I have been reading throughout this thread.

Good morning, Sir.
Thank you for the update, is that a render from the engine or a concept sketch?
Thanks! Brandon |

Thank you all for the kind words.
This image is a concept, but has exact same render quality that the engine is able to show and animate in real-time. We've developed a shadow algorithm, so we can pre-render all the images without ray tracing and then apply this shadow layer in real-time before the images are shown.

Good morning,
Impressive engine, sounds like several of the game engines I've played with. Will Denise be in a 3d world, sudo 3d, or 2d? If it will be a 3d world will the camera be free floating or fixed locations? Have more then one model been created?
Thanks! Brandon |

I play a little with her in a 3D environment some time ago (http://www.vrconsulting.it/vhf/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=446&whichpage=16&SearchTerms=island), but have no plans to use this engine for this now. This will stay for a later 3d engine that has the tools for real time lights and cameras.
For now, Denise will have small full body animations just for fun. The main interface still remains just her face (and brain ).
I started making a male character, but no time now to finish him. I'd rather finish in the near future a tool so users can make their own character to use with our engine.

That's a gorgeous render
I'd be very interested to hear basically how the shadow algorithm works? But if it's a secret then no worries |

Thanks Grant. No secret at all. Please every one here fell free to ask anything about our technology. My father used to be a teacher, and one of the things he taught me was that knowledge has no value at all if it's not shared and discussed.
I based my shader algorithm on Eric Chanīs paper from Computer Science Department at Stanford University called "Efficient Partitioning of Fragment Shaders for Multipass Rendering on Programmable Graphics Hardware".
You can read the whole paper and demo videos at: http://people.csail.mit.edu/ericchan/papers/rds/
And some very detail slides here: http://people.csail.mit.edu/ericchan/papers/rds/slides/
And download some material, software and manuals here: http://graphics.stanford.edu/projects/shading/
