Yes, I'm back at work again, and Harry is almost ready for distribution and installation. You are welcome to try it out while I'm getting it ready. Download the AI Makers folder from the mindmap site and follow the instructions in the readme file to get started. Expect bugs. Complain here.

Just tried harry on Windows XP SP3 but it doesn't work. The program freezes on the initial screen "Ai Makers Harry Workman".

Did you use .NET for its development or an older development environment?

the initial screen stays up for about 30 seconds, then it should go on to the harry workman window.

I will definately check out your stuff soon tabor! I just got my files from the USA... the old Jems! So I'll be fiddling with my inference engine to see what i left behind back there.

Great work figuring out Harry. I just want a clear fresh head... you know how it goes. One's ideas are the only ones one usually understands! 111

Well I can't do anything with Harry as I have Windows XP SP. The initial screen freezes and becomes unresponsive. Is there anything that I can do to fix the problem?

I'm thinking of ways to solve the problem.
1. create your configuration here.
2. connect with your machine from here.
3. send you source code.
4. create a test application to help localize the problem.

I haven't figured it out yet.

Tobor: could I ask you send me the source? I'm gonna see if I can get it all into a Linux package...

One of the other tests has encountered the frozen splash screen symptom. The problem was that the msagent/SAPI 4 components were not installed correctly.

you may be able to test this on your machine by running msagent.exe when the splash screen freezes.

toborman, just an idea, but perhaps put a text field somewhere on your splash screen that descibes the current setup task. That way if someone freezes up, you'll have some idea what is going wrong.

I also echo mik's concerns about giving someone the source. Only do so if you're happy to see your stuff in the public domain. Sure, people typically only share with people they trust, but it only takes two or three iterations of sharing before your source is in the hands of people you've never even heard of. (This is just general advice - I'm not accusing Dante of anything.)
