Vittorio!!! We are "a community of software developers, graphic artists and A.I. researchers, which can be met ...".
If it is in Wikipedia it MUST be true.

| since we collectively have been given the wikipedia defintiton of esteemed developers, graphic artists and AI researchers i personally want to thank Vitorrio for making it all possible. without this humble forum we would be unknowns. if it aint broke , don't fix it! this forum is great! i feel like cyber family here. yes we could use greater membership and perhaps a few more $$$$$, but i hope we stay a community. ~~alady |

Wikipedia is a great source of information. However, I have never fully accepted the fact that anybody can create, edit and delete anything there.
The brief article (just a few lines) about Peter Plantec has been deleted on April the 19th, by the user Coredesat, because of "no assertion of notability".
It's interesting to observe that this Coredesat (whose real name is unknown) maintains in Wikipedia a long page about himself (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Coredesat) , where the most notable information is that he "is graduating from university on May 19, then going on vacation from May 21 through May 30". Of course this is much more important than all the work made by Peter Plantec during dozens of years.
I am looking with much more interest now to Citizendium, the new encyclopedia which is a citizens' compendium of everything, an experimental new wiki project. The project, started by a co-founder of Wikipedia, aims to improve on that model by adding "gentle expert oversight" and requiring contributors to use their real names.
Unfortunately, it currently contains only 2000 articles, so it can't yet be used as a general reference. I'm seriously thinking about partecipating in this project: http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/Main_Page

That is one reason that most educational institutions here in the US are now trying to dissuade their students from using wikipedia as a valid resource when writing paper's or conducting research.
Hopefully this new endeavor that you have noted here will turn out to be a better and more accurate alternative. |

Reading a collection of wiki articles about a subject you know well is a good way to gain an empathy for the concept of "detection of truth by AI"
Perhaps (in wiki's defense) they routinely cull pages that have very few reads, basing Peter's "irrelevance" more on the lack of readers than the actual work itself. |

| Again, I'm late to the party, and, as luck would have it, I was in a particularly foul mood. This, however, has just cheered me up no end, congrats everyone. :) |
The hand that rocks the AI cradle, may well rule the world. |

Seriously...?! Missed this one too...!
I had the same experience while trying to implant some of my projects in. Yeah... I can understand me, but not Peter. |

The Wiki article about Peter Plantec was deleted on 04-18-07, but was reactivated on 09-23-07. (see the history page).
Thanks to Dante and Mikmoth because you gave me the opportunity to update this post. |
