Hi ZigZag,

quote:
The content shops I've visited so far have been quite overwhelming all at once. Sometimes I just don't know what can be used for what as well as struggling with the terminology.

I totally agree.... The amount of Poser content being produced is just phenomenal. The quality is quite variable too, and the descriptions are anything from way-too-brief up to mini-novels that take half an hour to read.

The good thing is the sites mostly have reasonable search functions, so searching for something like "jessi hair" at least narrows things down

A while ago, GamerThom created a great thread listing heaps of sites that have Poser/DAZ content. Some might be a little out-of-date since that was back in the Poser 5 & 6, Victoria 3 days! But I'm sure a lot of the sites will still be active and updated. Some of them have free content too.

http://www.vrconsulting.it/vhf/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=371

I'm not trying to speak for mik, but when I was active with Poser, I found that the Victoria model had far more content available than any other. It was more efficient to stick with her, because you could be pretty sure that any accessories you bought (hair, clothing, jewellery, etc) would be reasonably cross-compatible with any others. So you could mix and match clothing etc, rather than having issues when you have a Jessi shirt that you really want to use with Victoria jeans. I made the mistake once of buying a seperate character, who was gorgeous (very atheletic build) but clothing looked terrible on her unless it was designed specifically for her. So that's one trap to watch out for!

Of course then everything you do has that recognisable "Victoria" look about it! So I found at some points I just had to follow my artistic whim and get something totally different

P.S. Nice work on the Oasis scene!

P.P.S. Welcome to the forum!

Hi, Grant. Thank you and thank you very much! I have the AT&T Indian accent voice, Anjali, that goes great with that
scene. If I could only get those lips right! LOL. Ohhhhh. But my favorite voice is British accent Audrey. Really
excellent.

And wow! I just checked out GamerThom's list. OMG. That's incredible. After I posted here before I read some other
messages and I think it was Mik himself who actually mentioned Renderosity. I visited there for the first time
afterward. You're right. Things organized nicely there after I did a specific search. But when I first got the program
the other day my first concern was getting the hair to stay on the head when I noticed you could change the model's height.
I didn't know it had to be parented. Ho ho ho ho. Oasis was almost the bearded lady. Hehehe.

Welp, have a great rest of the weekend, guys. Think I'm gonna' veg out to a movie a little earlier tonight.

Very, very, nice there Zig. I've been busy too. Everyday gets me one day closer to the new release.

Just wanted to show off AiBliss's new skin system. It uses SkinCrafter skins. There are like over 100 complete skins you can switch in and out. And they are beautiful. Its very nice... and they are even dockable. I plan a release in about 10 days for the new skin system. And one in about 30 days which will be the initial chat functions available. To use the new chat levels you must own a copy of Kari... when I release version 1.0 I will take out this limitation. Man... this is getting exciting.

Hey thanks, Mik!

And that is awesome news on AIBliss! It's truly absolutely mind
boggling to me. I can't wait to try it. Man oh man. I can
only imagine the computers you guys have. But I know this much
for sure. Just from goofing around with Poser I'm contemplating
a bigger one? Faster one? LOL. An upgrade. Hehe. You know,
the more I add to a scene or an animation the more it slows down.
But at the time I got this one I just never dreamed I would be
doing something like this.

Alright. Rambling a little.

Looking forward to more updates and the release! Best of luck
with your ongoing progress!

That's really neat! Glad you are enjoying yourself. Poser is one of my 3 favorite programs of all time.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to upgrade to a better system. Doing 3D definately takes a higher-end computer. If you do upgrade, make sure you get a nice video card. I like NVidia cards. Something in 7600-8800 series is quite nice. It really speads up 3D. And your computer should run at least 2.0 gigahertz with 2 gigs of RAM. Do your research tho...

Ya, AiBliss is starting to look like a real application. Its closer to a game really. Or somewhere in between. People say it relaxes them. I tend to agree. Its relaxerware... or blissware.

Okey, until the next update... keep on trekkin.

AiBliss 0.4 is out! Would love to get some feedback. Pretty much, what I need to know, is if it runs!

Complete new skin system. Now ships with *26* different skins. Lots of little things I wanted to fix too... but the majority of the new stuff I couldn't include cuz I'm only half done with it. Nevertheless, version 0.4 is much easier on the eyes. Enjoy.

Here's the download shortcut:

Dude! It's running excellently for me!

Really nice!!!

Hehe. You're not going to believe this, but, I didn't have any
MP3's on my computer. LOL. All iTunes. Hadda' download some
good dance stuff.

The only problem I saw was an application error upon closing the
program. I don't know what it means.

0x04762cd6 referenced memory could not be read.

Click OK to terminate.
Click cancel to debug.

Hope that helps.

And that's all I saw so far. I'm gonna' be playing with it a lot
more later! Thanks!

You're not the first... I guess I should look into iTunes format. Thanks for the heads up.

That seems like a lot to go through to me.

You know what I did? I downloaded Amazon's downloader. And this
is really cool. I didn't know this. Maybe a lot of people don't.
The MP3's that you download from Amazon are instantaneously
imported into your iTunes library. I never knew that! I really
didn't even know they could do that. I guess they have some
kind of agreement? Very surprising to me. FWIW, though, I know
you're not in the business of advertising for Amazon, but it might
help you to let people know that somehow? Just a thought, you
know? iTunes is so, so prevalent and dominant and people are so
devoted to it. Shoot, man, I've found some stuff on Amazon I
couldn't get on iTunes. Worked out great for me! Maybe other
people would feel the same way.

Man oh man, your program opens up beautifully to full screen.

When can we make our own scenes??? LOL. I'm kiddin'.

Yeah, I can see that... iTunes is everywhere. Hmm!

Can you do me a favor and fill me in on a few things?

Where is your iTunes music folder located? What format are the files?

I installed iTunes and downloaded a few songs. They have a M4A extension. Which is quicktime's version of mp3. Are your songs like that too?

Don't worry if you dont have the info... I'm just trying to figure out how to make em work with AiBliss.

Thanks!

I hope I did this right, but I went to "My Documents" "My Music"
and opened the iTunes folder. iTunes Library opens iTunes itself,
but iTunes music opens the files and mine say "M4P".

So for the heck of it I Googled M4P. Some examples of the results
are people on Yahoo Answers trying to find ways to convert M4P's
to MP3's. So I guess theirs are that way too. M4P.

That's weird. I don't know why it would be different.

Wait a minute.

I just saw something else. Did you download the DRM-free versions?
What follows below is copied from Wikipedia ...

The .m4p is usually used as the music format for the iTunes Store DRM copy protected content, while .m4a is now being used by the iTunes Store for DRM-free, unprotected music files and as an export option in QuickTime Pro.

Hope something in there helps, Mik.

Thanks ZigZag!

The problem is that the sound system I am using does not support iTunes. Its not by ignorance... its a license issue the decoder can't be distributed in any compiled form. So I hafta implement it myself... and holy cow... its ugly.

So I went to rentacoder.com. Will let you know how it turns out.

Hey Zig, its time you got yourself an avatar pic if your're gonna be hanging around here. And don't worry about replying to every message I post... that would be a full time job... although I do enjoy hearing someone else talk besides me.

Update:

I hired a company in India to create me an iTunes decoder to plug into AiBliss. I'm sure I could do it... but its such a downer working on that kind of mess. And its a mess. I rather work on 3D, Ai, and animations. But yeah, they got tons of these little Indian startup businesses coding everyone's messy code.

Besides that... just inching along. Gonna get the new Conan game tomorrow. I usually play it for a few days until my work drags me back. laters
